We are faced with many challenges in our daily living. At times we feel overwhelmed and not sure how to keep moving forward. Other times we want to hide away and be still. We may struggle with decision-making, our memory may be challenged, we may be irritable, we may be emotional. Whatever you are feeling I am here to listen. I am here to support. Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we may experience at some point in our lives. Through counselling and working toward your goals, I am able to help you develop effective coping strategies to increase motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Grief inevitably affects all of us at some point in our lives and we are often surprised by the emotional agony we experience. This is because we haven't learned what grief is and people don't seem to want to talk about it. It is important to understand what grief is, how it affects us, and to know that our struggles are normal. When we know what to expect we are better able to work through our feelings, process our loss, and move toward finding resolution.
We live in a very competitive world, one that doesn't often leave space to be kind to ourselves. Sometimes we need to comfort and soothe ourselves for how hard it is to be a human being. Self-compassion involves treating yourself the way you would treat a friend who is having a hard time. It involves mindfulness, self-kindness, and connecting to common humanity.
